On 20th September, we marked yet another historic occasion for our esteemed club. We took another step forward in cementing our long-standing association with Ford and their Digital Literacy Initiative that will have a huge impact on the future generation and enable them to harness the power of digital.

Rtn. Jawahar Nichani, an investment banker and financial consultant by profession took charge as President of our Club for the Rotary year 2022-23. Immediate Past Presidnet Rtn. Renjit Joseph collared him with the President's jewel at the gala ceremony on 28 June at Hotel Radission Blue Egmore. District Governer Elect Rtn. Dr. Nandakumar was the chief guest and presented the President's pin to Jawahar. Wishing President Jawahar all the very best.

In a first of kind, our weekly meeting on 19 April was dedicated to learning and understanding issue of gender and inclusiveness. Members of Rotary Club of Madras Elite, a transgers-only Club are invited to address us on the issues facing transgender community. The meeting gave us a bird's eye view of a large issue, which is generally not talked about. Our Programme Chairman Rtn. Madhu brought us another memorable and educative meeting.

Rtn. Jawahar Nichani will lead our Club as the President during the Rotary 2022-23 and the team of office bearers for the upcoming year was elected in a simple election held last week. Past President Rtn. R V Rajan conducted the election as the 'Returning Officer' and as per tradition in our Club, the team was elected unopposed.

Shiela Sriprakash, spouse of our Past President (Late) Sriprakash joined our Club as the newest member yesterday (7 Dec), taking our membership tally to more than 72 this year. Shiela is a renowned and seasoned architect for more than 40 years and often recognised for her urban planning designs. She runs the firm, Shilpa Architects in Chennai. Shiela was accompanied by her grand daughter (in the pic) during the induction as member and Rtn. Shyamala Jayaprakash inducted her as the member.
