First ever PDG R Raja Memorial Award conferred on Prof. V Kamakotti, Director, IIT Madras
Prof V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras was conferred the first ever PDG Ramakrishna Raja Memorial Awards for Vocational Excellence, constituted by our Club in memory of our late member PDG Raja. Raja a doyen of Rotary and a pillar of our Club passed away exactly two years back. He was the Charter Secretary of our Club and continued as member for 60 longs years. A businessman, well respected in Rotary world and Carnatic music circles, our Raja will be remembered ever throught this annual award in his honour. Home Nurses ready to serve
Home nursing course organised by our Club at ANEW, the NGO in Anna Nagar was completed successfully. The course completion certificate distribution was done on Friday 19th Feb. The students of this course get immediate employment. 15 nurses are ready to serve those ailing at home. Mr. Manikandan of CAMS who sponsored the programme out of thier CSR initiative attended as the chief guest of the function.The
Airconditioner servicing course gets off to a start
Airconditioner and refrigerator servicing course, our flagship vocational service project running for the last more than 22 years got off to a start for the Rotary year 2019-20. The course is conduced at Centre of Entreprenuerial Department of Anna University, Guinduy, Chennai. More than 300 applications were received for the 60 seats. The students of this project get immediate employment or entrepernuerial opportunities on completion of the course.Mr. Veeraraghavan from CAMS, the CSR partner of the project was the Chief guest. Our Club President Rtn. M C Srikanth was the guest of honour. Our Vocational Service Director Rtn. Ashok did all the arrangements.
Basic IT skills training completed
Our Club sponsored the 'Basic IT skill training' for a batch of girl students at ANEW, the NGO loaced in Anna Nagar, Chennai. At the function held 13 November, the students who completed the course were presented certificate. The course was supported by CAMS CSR.
Teaching Icon award to teacher of Jaigopal Garodiya School
G Mariyammal, teacher of Jaigopal Garodia Girls Higher Secondary School Nandanam, our Interact School, recevied the Rotary Teaching Icon Award presented by our District 3232. She was one among the group of teachers from schools in Chennai recognised for their role in nation building. In the picture, G Mariyammal receives the award in the presence of District Governor G Chandramohan.
